There have been a few times within the last year that people start to question why I raised my prices or why I’m so “expensive”? First and foremost I am not going to sit here and go over a breakdown of my expenses but I’m going to explain what I’ve learned throughout my photography career through experience.

There was a time two years ago, just starting out not knowing what to charge, really not knowing what my work was worth. A time that I was away from my children so much (especially during nights and weekends) which is the time that we could actually spend quality time together as a family, and I was doing so much work and not seeing anything from it. I was working late nights editing photos, being exhausted during the day because I was up so late, not giving my children what they deserved – a mother that was present.  I wasn’t able to take a vacation with my children, I was neglecting them and myself, I was so exhausted that I had to step back and re-evaluate something that I loved but it was consuming me.

This photography thing isn’t easy, I’m not just snapping photos and giving your photos to you the next day.  I take hours upon hours editing your photos to my style, responding to inquiries that may or may not book, location scouting to give you a beautiful location, and customizing a session around you.  I have to run it like a business, set hours, set prices that I can make a living with, and make sure that I don’t miss out on important holidays or birthdays with my family. It’s long days and nights editing, shooting, e-mailing, making sure that my business is ran properly.  I charge what I need to make a living and live a life with my family, without missing the most important moments in my life.

So if you are looking for a “cheap” experience and photographer just remember that you get what you pay for. Big chain stores do not give you an experience, they give you the same thing that the last person had, a shoot and burn experience. Don’t get me wrong if I’m not for you, I’m not, I run my business as a business and try not to take things personally. My experience is tailored around your love for your family, significant other, child/ren, and your real life moments. The good and the bad, the pain and the joy, no matter what the occasion I want to capture your story.

I am so happy that I get the pleasure of capturing moments that you can never get back, moments that you want to preserve for a lifetime. I capture YOUR story, your life, your real and honest moments.
